Looking for some new music to fill up your iPod? Head over to the LJC Listening Center where you can download the track “Machete Son” from our current Spotlight artist, Ritmo Masacote. The track gives a great example of the exciting and modern Latin Jazz found on the album, Fantagious. Pianist Joel Massicot pushes his band forward with a combination of interesting compositions and intensive montunos. It’s an album well-worth hearing - take a minute to check out “Machete Son” and then pick up the album. You won’t regret it!

Once you’ve downloaded “Machete Son,” take a minute to browse through the rest of the Listening Center. It’s growing on a regular basis, bringing you more free Latin Jazz for your listening pleasure. The Listening Center presents a great opportunity to introduce yourself to some new Latin Jazz artists, and hopefully find some new albums that inspire you. I’ve been spending some time on a couple of social networks lately, making some contacts with a variety of people. It’s pretty incredible the amount of people that you can encounter on sites like Facebook or MySpace. I’ve enjoyed the amount of conversation that these formats have allowed me, and I’m looking forward to more inspiring discussions. I find that I’m also putting quick ideas and announcements about Latin Jazz out into the community through Twitter or Facebook - it’s another great way to spread information. I hadn’t explored these sites too much in the past, so it’s a new world; one that I’m finding very useful.
