Latin Jazz This Week will bring you a weekly look into news from the Latin Jazz world. You’ll find new releases, recommended performances, web finds, and more. Flautist and professor of music at Whittier College Danilo Lozano will be moderating an event entitled Inside Latin Jazz this Thursday January 15th at the Ruth B. Shannon Center. Lozano will be conducting an on stage interview with bandleaders Bobby Sanabria & John Santos. It sounds like an interesting event that will be covering the past, present, and future of Latin Jazz. The event starts at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are $15. Get more information HERE.
All About Jazz just published an interview that I conducted with Cuban pianist Elio Villafranca. It’s an interesting and in-depth look at Villafranca’s musical life in Cuba and the United States, with insights on his training, early career, and artistic perspective.
