Welcome to the Latin Jazz Corner Best Of 2010 Awards; below you’ll find the guidelines for voting and nominee submission. Please read the guidelines carefully so that your participation in the awards is a good experience. A few things to remember along the way:
CATEGORY 1 – ALBUMS
All Nominated Albums Must Be Latin Jazz Recordings
The first release of the album must be in 2010
Album Of The Year & Next Generation Awards
Album Of The Year is meant for established artists that have been internationally visibly on the Latin Jazz scene for a while; the Next Generation award is meant for artists new to the scene
As nominees get added to either of these categories, they will be placed (moved if necessary) into the correct category
An album cannot be be nominated in both the Album Of The Year & Next Generation categories
Brazilian Jazz Album & Afro-Peruvian Jazz Album Awards
At least 75% of the album must fall into either genre in this category
Large Ensemble Album Award
75% of the album must involve a group with seven or more members
CATEGORY 2 – MUSICIANS
The nominee needs to be part of a Latin Jazz album first released in 2010
The nominee needs to play on at least 50% of the album
Only one musician from any album per category
CATEGORY 3 – COMPOSITION/ARRANGEMENTS
The chosen piece must be an original composition appearing for the first time in 2010
The chose piece must be part of a Latin Jazz album first released in 2010
CATEGORY 4 – BUSINESS/PROMOTION
Record Label
The label needs to have released & supported Latin Jazz in a significant way during 2010
They need at least one example of a Latin Jazz recording during 2010
Album Artwork
The Artwork must be affiliated with a Latin Jazz album first released in 2010
The Artwork needs to display an original perspective on promotion
