The number of categories in the LJC Best Of The Year Awards has grown over the years, striving to recognize emerging trends in the Latin Jazz world. When the Awards began in 2007, there were a total of 12 awards that recognized outstanding albums, musicians, and record labels. Things have changed – as of 2010, the LJC Best Of The Year Awards contain 20 Awards, divided into four major categories. There are specific guidelines that outline an artist or album’s qualification for each individual awards – to check out those guidelines, go HERE. Again, these guidelines are the ones that oversaw the 2010 Awards. As we look into the future, categories will most likely be added and more guidelines will be established, multiplying the impact of the awards tremendously. For now, we’ll go with the categories from the 2010 Awards; if you’ve got ideas for additional categories, please contact me and I’ll put it into consideration for future use.
